I thoroughly enjoyed “Searching for Spring” by Christine Hoover. I love how creative Christine is and how she shows us how beauty is all around us. So many times, especially when we are going through hard times, we focus on the negative and the “ugliness” of life. Christine shows us how God is always with us and even in the hard times of life, beauty can come out of it. I’ve seen in my own life where some of the most beautiful moments came out of the hardest and toughest things I’ve ever dealt with. One of my favorite quotes in this book is “Beauty is not immediate. It often unveils itself slowly, through much waiting, much seeking, and sometimes much heartache.” (p. 21) I have experienced this, but I needed some reminding. I definitely recommend this book to every woman out there. We women have so much to do and get so busy with life that we tend to ignore the beauty out there. This book is a great reminder ...

Sometimes I read a nonfiction book, and it feels like I’m reading a foreign language! This was not the case with “Courageous Women of the Bible” by LaTan Roland Murphy. I know LaTan personally, and this book reads like she is sitting right beside me, talking to me. I don’t know how she does it, but she can be deep without being confusing. That takes talent! I grew up in the church, but I have a confession. Sometimes I would read the Bible and not really get anything out of it. LaTan opened up the word to me in a new, refreshing way. I am now yearning for that courage, and I pray God will give me the courage and confidence to do what He wants me to do. This book could be read individually or as a group. There are questions at the end of e...

This book is the answer to conquering those feelings. Sharon uses real life examples and scripture to point us to God, who sees all of us as “enough”. There were so many places that I highlighted in this book. I think my favorite quote was, “God doesn’t call us because we are particularly gifted or talented. He uses us because we are obedient and dependent on Him. He doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called.” I love this! This really spoke to me. I feel like God is calling me to do something, but it’s so far out of my co...
