Sometimes I read a nonfiction book, and it feels like I’m reading a foreign language!  This was not the case with “Courageous Women of the Bible” by LaTan Roland Murphy.  I know LaTan personally, and this book reads like she is sitting right beside me, talking to me.  I don’t know how she does it, but she can be deep without being confusing.  That takes talent!

I grew up in the church, but I have a confession.  Sometimes I would read the Bible and not really get anything out of it.  LaTan opened up the word to me in a new, refreshing way.  There were so many women of the Bible that she talked about and so many life lessons to learn.  I appreciate the way LaTan showed how many women of the Bible had courage.  I am now yearning for that courage, and I pray God will give me the courage and confidence to do what He wants me to do.

This book could be read individually or as a group.  There are questions at the end of each chapter so a group study would be perfect.  Also, at the end of the book are pages to journal after every chapter.  I believe LaTan covered all the bases to really dig deep into God’s word!

I definitely recommend this book to every woman out there.  There is so much in these pages to be learned.  Pink highlighter is throughout my whole book!  You will feel like you personally know LaTan after reading this book, and more importantly, you will gain a deeper understanding of the women God used in the Bible.

I received this book from Bethany House Publishers for my honest opinion.
