Rarely does a fiction book bring me to tears, but “Life After” by Katie Ganshert did. This book has so many quotes and is so thought provoking. Katie writes in a way where the characters and situations stay with you for days after reading the book! This is a book that will definitely stay with me.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. The honest opinion and review are my own and were not required.
This book starts off with Autumn Manning. Autumn boards a train, along with many others. Moments later, the train explodes. Autumn is the sole survivor. She can’t remember the accident, and she is dealing with guilt from being the only survivor. She constantly asks herself the question of why was she the only survivor? Paul Elliott lost his wife in the same accident. Circumstances bring Autumn and Paul together as they both are dealing with issues of their own.
There were so many quotes, in this book, that I loved, but I think the one that made the biggest impact in my life was from one of the victim’s wife. She said, “ Before Jesus performed His big fancy miracle, He met those sisters in the middle of their pain, and He wept alongside them. That’s our God. We worship a God that may not give us the miracle, but He will always give us the comfort. And that, my friends, is the God I see here, alive and active, in this sanctuary today.”
I have read everyone of Katie Ganshert’s books, and I loved them all! If you have never read anything by Katie, I highly recommend her. She writes fiction in such a way that it feels true, and the book stays with you for a long time!
